LiveU
LiveU develops live video contribution and production technology designed to help broadcasters, sports organizations, production companies, and other media teams transmit high-quality video from the field without depending entirely on traditional satellite or dedicated fiber connections. Its technology combines multiple cellular and IP connections to create a more resilient path for live video, giving production teams greater flexibility when covering news, sports, events, and remote productions.
VidOvation provides LiveU video solutions for live contribution, bonded cellular transmission, remote production, newsgathering, sports, and other professional broadcast workflows. The objective is not simply to add more cellular modems. A successful field-production system has to account for available connectivity, bandwidth, latency, video quality, camera count, return video, communications, remote equipment control, receiving infrastructure, and the requirements of the production team.
LiveU’s portable field units include the LU800 and LU300S. The LU800 is designed for production-level applications and can support multi-camera workflows, native 5G connectivity, 4Kp60 10-bit HDR transmission, and bonding of multiple IP connections. The smaller LU300S provides a compact option for single-camera live coverage while supporting 5G, 4Kp60 10-bit HDR, and multiple bonded cellular and IP connections.
The LiveU ecosystem extends well beyond portable transmitters. Rackmount contribution encoders, decoders, LiveU Central, LiveU Matrix, LiveU Studio, LiveU Nexus, LiveU Ingest, and production tools provide options for receiving, managing, producing, recording, and distributing live feeds. LiveU also offers tools such as Video Return, Audio Connect, Tally Light, and IP Pipe to support the two-way communication and remote control required for professional REMI and at-home production.
At the center of LiveU’s contribution workflow is LiveU Reliable Transport, or LRT™, which is designed to maintain reliable video transmission across cellular and other IP networks. For facilities transitioning toward IP infrastructure, LiveU also offers solutions such as the LU4000 decoder for integration with SMPTE ST 2110 broadcast environments.
VidOvation helps customers look at the complete workflow before selecting equipment. That includes evaluating field connectivity, camera requirements, bonded cellular options, contribution paths, receiving and decoding, remote-production requirements, and integration with existing broadcast infrastructure. VidOvation’s experience with bonded cellular and remote production helps organizations design systems around how their crews actually work in the field.
Whether the goal is breaking-news coverage, multi-camera sports production, REMI, live event streaming, or reliable video contribution from difficult locations, contact VidOvation to discuss the application and determine which LiveU video solutions fit the workflow.
